Note: Most Rod Library long-term laptops and classroom laptop sets are not available during the Spring/summer 2020 transition to online courses. To request a long-term laptop, see information from UNI IT: https://it.uni.edu/updates/information-technology-offers-laptop-checkouts
Yes. Laptops, both Macs and PCs, are available for check out only to UNI students. Short-term laptops can be checked out at the Library Services Desk for 3 hours for use in the library only.
We also have a very small collection of laptops that check out to students for longer time periods, also from the Library Services Desk. To reserve a long-term laptop, use the following links.
- Long Term Student Laptop (1-week checkout)
- Long Term Student Chromebook (2-week checkout)
- Long Term Student Tablet (1-week checkout; both Microsoft Surface tablets with stylus and Dell Latitudes available)
HNI Corp. IRTS: (located on main floor of Schindler Education Center)
- Long-term Windows laptop (3-day checkout with one 3-day renewal)
- Long-term Mac laptop (3-day checkout with one 3-day renewal)
Long-term laptop checkouts are very popular and there may be a waiting list. To get on the waiting list (place a hold), use the Sign In link in the yellow bar to log in to your library account, and click on the Request button. A laptop will be placed on hold for you. You will be notified by email when one is available and ready for pick up.
Rod Library also has a laptop cart that has 25 laptops for use with classes or large groups. That laptop cart can be checked out from the Library Services Desk, and reserved in advance through RodScheduler.
Room 324 also has laptop carts that hold 25 laptops. This room can be reserved via RodScheduler for evenings and weekends only. The key for the laptop carts will need to be checked out from the Library Services Desk
