Rod Library has access to a test prep database through the Iowa Library Services (State Library of Iowa) called LearningExpress that has sample Praxis II tests. You can use the database either through Rod Library or through Iowa public libraries.

To get to the database:

1. Use the following direct link: http://www.library.uni.edu/gateway/owl/learningexpress-library

2. Click on the "Research Databases A-Z" link located on the library home page, at http://www.library.uni.edu/

Scroll down the alphabetical list and click on the title to enter the database.

Registration is required to take the tests in the database. Once you enter the database, click on the "Login" link located in the upper right or in the lower right part of the screen. If you are a new user, you should click the "Register" link.  IMPORTANT NOTE: We recently moved to the newer 3.0 version (on April 21, 2014). Please note that if you were a registered user of the 2.0 version, you MUST REGISTER AGAIN for the new 3.0 version.

If you have an account but have forgotten your username, you can click on the "Forgot Password" link. 

Once you are logged into the system you can go directly to the "My Center" link located in the upper right section of the screen to get to your saved tests, courses, and ebooks. The "My Center" section contains a history of things and test results saved in your personal porfolio. You will only see the "My Center" link after you have logged into the system.

To get started choose a center!

There is a series of centers located in the middle of the home page. You can scroll through the centers by clicking the left or right arrows. Hover your mouse over the center to see a description. Click on the center to enter. 

Directions to find the Praxis II infromation and practice tests:

The Praxis II tests are located under the "Career Center" tab/link located in the center of the screen.  

  • Click on the "Career Center" tab/link.
  • Click on the"Prepare for an Occupation Exam" tab/link
  • Click on the "Teaching" heading - Look in the left column
  • Click on the "Prepare for the Praxis II Subject Assessments" link.
  • A list of practice tests and ebooks willl appear on the screen. 

You must be logged into the system to take a test. Click "Launch" to start the practice test, save the ebook, or begin the tutorials. The "Launch" button won't appear until you have Logged into the system.

The Video Guides heading across the top of the screen lists several instruction vidoes such as, "How to Take a Test."
