To add the Regression Analysis (Data Analysis) function to EXCEL:

  1. Open EXCEL
  2. Click on "File" in the upper left-hand corner
  3. Click on "Options" on the drop down menu
  4. Click on "Add-Ins" on the resulting pop-up menu
  5. Highlight "Analysis TookPak" in the long list of Add-Ins then click on "Go" at the bottom of the pop-up menu
  6. Put a check in the box next to Analysis ToolPak and click on OK
  7. Click on the "Data" option at the top of the EXCEL spreadsheet.  The "Data Analysis" option will now appear in the upper right-hand corner of the screen

Note #1 - on the public computers Data Analysis will only be available during the current session.  Once you log out of the session and then log back in - the Data Analysis option will be missing and must be added again using the above procedure.

Note #2 - the Data Analysis (Analysis ToolPak) includes a whole suite of statistical options that include:

  • Random Number Generation
  • Regression Analysis
  • t-tests
